Last weekend, Tim, Brian, and I (Rachel) headed to sunny San Diego for the Specialty Coffee Association’s World of Coffee—and honestly, the best way to describe it is the Disney World of coffee. Everywhere you turned, there was something new to taste, learn, or explore.
The event brought together the entire coffee supply chain under one roof. From producers (coffee farmers) and importers to roasters, equipment makers, packaging experts, and café brands—it felt like the whole industry showed up. Hundreds of vendors and thousands of attendees filled the convention center, making for an energetic (and very caffeinated) three days.
And there was so much to do and see that at times it felt impossible to take it all in. We went in thinking there was no way we’d cover everything—but somehow, we did our best to experience as much as we could. It was a little crazy in the best way, packed with constant movement, new discoveries, and moments that made us stop and just take it all in.
One of the best parts? The people. We loved meeting new faces, making new friends, and reconnecting with some of our favorite folks in the industry. There’s something special about being surrounded by people who are just as passionate about coffee as we are.
Of course, we drank a lot of coffee. We also had the chance to test out new gear and watch live demos throughout the weekend. A highlight for us was getting hands-on with espresso machines from La Marzocco, along with checking out the newest Espresso Series 1 from Fellow—both seriously impressive.
Beyond coffee, we explored some exciting new products across the café world. We met matcha brands, sampled alternative milks (pecan and pistachio were standouts!), and snacked our way through some incredible baked goods and café treats.
We also wanted to give a special shoutout to our friends at the Hawaii Coffee Association, who were showcasing some of the best coffee from Hawaii at their booth. It was amazing to see such incredible coffees from back home being represented on a global stage.
Another big moment was watching a demo from Loring—the company behind our new roaster. That made everything feel even more real and exciting. (Stay tuned on our Instagram as we share more of that journey!)
It’s hard to believe how much was packed into just three days. We left feeling inspired, energized, and incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an amazing community.
And the best part? We’re already looking forward to next year—see you in New Orleans
